Scrap Gold Wanted

We are always keen to buy scrap gold and other jewellery, paying fair and competitive prices, particularly for clean, sorted hallmarked material.

Some jewellers, pawnbrokers and other buyers are only interested in buying as cheaply as possible. Others are reluctant to buy because they are afraid of being stuck with unwanted scrap.
Naturally, we cannot pay double or treble the price, but often we find that we can, and do, pay 10% to 20% more than our competitors; although in recent months we have noticed a proliferation of dealers paying very low prices, in one case a local jeweller offered £80 for a parcel which we happily paid £375 for.
Nowadays, most of the High Street multiple retail jewellers are not interested in purchasing scrap or second-hand jewellery, partly because it would require at least one of their staff members to have some real expertise, but also because it might alert some of their customers to the huge retail markups. That’s when it pays to come to a real jeweller and bullion dealer like ourselves, rather than a shopkeeper who happens to sell jewellery!

Hallmarked Scrap

It is easier for us if you have your scrap gold properly sorted into various grades of hallmarked gold, with tested unhallmarked scrap kept separate, and properly identified.

Free Valuations

One thing we avoid is giving free valuations, otherwise all our time would be taken up providing free valuations, and we would not be able to give a good service to our valued customers, or have the time to create new ring designs, or to produce the beautiful diamond rings for which we are famous.
Because of this, we will always ask you to tell us what you already know.
If you do need a probate or disposal valuation, we will be happy to provide this for a reasonable fee.

Help Us To Help You

You, as the owner of the jewellery start off with the advantage that initially you know far more about your jewellery than we do. It is not our practice to take a ten second glance at your jewellery and value it instantly. We try to take a thorough and professional approach to appraisals, and this requires time, careful measurement and examination. For some items, we may not be the best buyer, and we will be quite happy to tell you if we think this is the case.
From long experience, we believe that the more information you can share with us initially, the quicker we can arrive at an opinion, and the more time we can spend helping you to achieve your objectives.
Please bring identification with you if calling personally at our premises, otherwise send your jewellery with an invoice, letterheading, business card, or other identification.

Percentages & Quantities

We are happy to pay 90% of intrinsic gold content for any hallmarked scrap gold from 100 grams upwards in total, and 95% or more for quantities of 1 kilo upwards. In fact we will pay up to 98% of intrinsic for melted and assayed bars, or for large volumes after melt and assay charges.
For smaller amounts, under 100 grams, or for unclean and unsorted material, we will make a deduction for sorting or testing where necessary, but will still pay upwards of 80% of intrinsic gold content, which is still at least 10% more than most of our competitors.

Don’t Get Ripped Off

In recent months, we have noticed more and more advertisements from companies and individuals keen to buy scrap gold for cash.
Most of these recent start-ups use misleading and inaccurate claims in their adverts. Many give no indication of the price or percentage they actually pay, and our research shows that many of them pay no more than 50% to 60% of the actual value, and some as little as 10%, 15%, or even less.
While we would not claim to pay the absolute highest prices, we are certain that we pay more than 99% of our competitors!
